Cara for Mulberry

Aaahhhhh best news ever!!! Cara Delevingne has done a collection for Mulberry! I am the biggest Cara fan, despite all the controversy surrounding her drug use. She has also made me feel a lot better about having blonde hair with dark, thick eyebrows which I always hated as a child.

Look at her - how can you not love a model who doesn't care being photographed like this?!

...and then look like this the next minute!

There are a variety of sizes and styles, which all have detachable straps so you can wear them either over the shoulder, or as a backpack. This is great news for me as I love a good backpack, especially because of how practical they are (excuse me for sounding like a mum) but I find it very difficult to find a nice, good quality one. If I could afford one of these Cara bags, I would definitely be buying one!

The black, blue and green quilted ones are gorgeous and would definitely feel like a classic Mulberry bag, a real investment! I only have a small Alexa Mulberry bag in black so far which has lasted really well and the leather has become softer the more I've used it which is great!

The second design of the Cara collection is the 'Camouflage Haircalf' in either khaki or monochrome. I have mixed feelings about this one as I've never been a huge fan of camouflage print; however I do think they are different and stand out and I love the haircalf fabric of them. If worn with a simple outfit I think one could be a real statement piece.

My favourite one is definitely the 'Taupe Silky Classic Calf with Lion Rivets'  because of the colour which is a bit different from the kinds of bags I would usually buy, and the added detail of the lion studs make it more interesting and original. The fact that Cara has a lion tattoo on her finger emphasises the 'Cara touch' to the bag.

The Mulberry site makes it clear that the bag would reflect Cara by saying "A key part of the initial design stage involved working up ideas that captured Cara's personality, her charisma, her cool, but that also kept Mulberry's identity and signature style."

What do you think of this collection? Will you be investing in one?

Silky Shirts & Afternoon Tea

Last weekend I went home for the weekend because we had family from America over. My cousin, Frances, is from California and has come to study in London for a semester so we had a weekend full of tourist activities! The first evening I was back, we went for a curry at Malik's in Cookham, Berkshire, which is supposed to be Heston Blumenthal's favourite curry house so we assumed it must be good - and it certainly did not disappoint!

I wore a new silky shirt from Lavish Alice which I fell in love with as soon as I saw it on the ASOS website (my wardrobe is full of silky and chiffon shirts!). Paired with black jeans and little suede boots, it was an easy and simple outfit to put together. Because the shirt has quite a lot of detail, I wanted to keep the rest quite neutral. For warmth, I wore my camel coat from Topshop which matched the boots. Apologies for the terrible pictures, I was in a huge rush!!

Coat - originally from Topshop last year, but here is a similar option - http://www.asos.com/ASOS/ASOS-Knee-Length-Over-Coat/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=2959036&SearchQuery=camel%20coat&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=36&sort=-1&clr=Camel

Boots - I got these from South Africa last year, but Office have a pair similar - http://www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/2,10/1592750015

The next day we went to Windsor Castle, followed by afternoon tea at Oakley Court Hotel. I have never actually gone out for proper afternoon tea so I was super excited, despite hating both scones and tea - it's the experience that counts! For just £12.50 each we could have two scones, lots of little cakes/sweet treats and a cup of tea, which is quite a bargain especially considering the beautiful setting of the hotel. I just had a hot chocolate and sneakily snacked on all the sweet bits from everyone else's plates. I felt more British than ever and definitely something I want to do more often!

Here are a couple of snaps from the day!

Spring Wishlist

So Spring is almost here! (Not really, but wishful thinking is what I'm going with right now) and in between essay writing and cheerleading training, I've been checking out all my favourite online shops.
Here's a list of the things that I'm lusting over at the moment...

I'm so in love with these cropped printed trousers from Zara. I would probably style them also with a white top with a pair of those skater slip on pumps that seem to be everywhere right now, or a black silky shirt for a more formal evening look.

Although pink was the colour of winter, I've found some summery pieces, so will be continuing the pink trend into the sun! The first of these is the 'Ballerina' jumper from Wildfox. My wardrobe is stocked full of Wildfox pieces, particularly their jumpers which are so comfy and wash beautifully (and they can be tumble-dried, bonus!). This jumper also reveals my inner desire to be Darcy Bussell!

The next piece is a lightweight blazer from ASOS which can be worn with most things, but I am a fan of the styling on the ASOS model which adds a girly touch to the denim shorts and basic tee combo. Blazers are also extremely handy during spring evenings when there's still a chill in the air.

Finally, the last of my pink obsession, is this Alice and Olivia two piece. Although an expensive outfit, it is super cute and could be worn both day and night! The lace detailing gives it a vintage look, but the patent silver shoes gives the outfit a more modern image. I may not be able to afford this one, but I can always dream!

I love this twist on a regular black blazer from Pret-a-Portobello, with the gunmental coloured sequins at the bottom. It makes it more formal (and fun!) and goes with pretty much any outfit.

I'm always struggling to find a pair of cute flat shoes that aren't black, and now I've found the perfect pair! The coral colour definitely makes them a pair of shoes for the Spring, and the detailing on the heel makes them that little bit different from regular flats. I'd probably wear them with just black jeans and a nice top for a trip into town or a dinner with friends. And at only £32 from ASOS, I couldn't ask for anything better!

And lastly, this clutch from Zara can be used to summarise my current mood! Juggling uni work, cheer training and a social life is proving to be difficult at the moment, but Zara have made me feel slightly better by creating this white clutch with embossed writing. I probably wouldn't use it as a clutch bag cos I feel like the word 'stressed' shouldn't correlate with an evening event, but it would be a cute make-up bag or pencil case!

What do you think about my Spring wishlist? What are you lusting over for the warmer months?

OOTD - Monochrome

Black and white are without a doubt my favourite colours to wear. They are simple, go with absolutely anything and can be worn for almost any occasion. However, a standard daytime monochrome look tends to be simply jeans with a shirt and jacket, with an evening version often being an LBD or a suit, going for the androgynous look. Celebs like Victoria Beckham pull this look off very well, with Jessica Alba looking amazing in her monochrome evening wear, as shown below (with a few other looks for inspiration!).

I, however, have been trying to branch out of this standard option (I LIVE in my black jeans) and wear something a bit different. During a recent trip to Primark to buy an cheapy umbrella (probably a necessity whilst living in Leeds), I ended up falling in love with the cutest black playsuit, and for £14 I couldn't resist buying it! It has a little white collar, making it almost school uniform-esque, but I added a bit of edge to it with a chunky gold necklace, gold stud earrings and heeled boots.

Playsuit - Primark don't have an online shop, *cry*, (although ASOS do now stock some of their collection which is handy!). But here is a similar option - http://www.prettylittlething.com/dylon-black-playsuit-with-white-collar.html?utm_source=google_shopping&135=42&gclid=CPaDrdiFz7wCFU_KtAodlRIAOA

Earrings - Kate Spade - these earrings aren't stocked online anymore, but there are lots of little gold stud earrings similar on the website! - http://www.katespade.com/jewelry-earrings/ks-jewelry-earrings,en_US,sc.html

The Beginning

Hiyaaa,

This is my very first blog post so just thought I'd introduce myself...

I'm Roxy, a 2nd year English Language student at the University of Leeds (although Berkshire is where I call home), with a big love for fashion and enjoying the best things in life. I'm mainly going to write about fashion, lifestyle and general cute bits that I find along the way. Being technologically challenged, despite growing up in an online generation, means that creating a blog is a big thing for me, and I expect lots of learning curves as well as lots of fun and experiences!

This blog is here for me to share my thoughts, my loves and my life and I would love for you to follow this journey with me...
